The Von Roth kennel has predominately based its breeding program around the Ellendonk bloodlines from the Nordrhein region in Germany. The Ellendonk Kennel is widely credited with improving the working temperament of the Dobermann and produced many outstanding working and foundation dogs. Their bloodline set the foundation of Dobermanns from the Vaciweba, Niederkassel, Orakel, Weyermühle, Klingenstadt, Fliehburg, Langenhorst, Kirchbühl, Mooreiche and Worringer Bruch kennels in Germany.
Below is an outline of the important combinations from the Ellendonk Kennel and how they decisively shaped the present day working Dobermann and formed the basis of our foundation.
Dixie Krakau SchH3 DV-Lstsg |
Starting with Dixie v. Krakau SchH3 DV-Lstsg (brown), she descends from BDSG Dirk v. Goldberg SchH3 and her dam was VDH-SG Elke v. Saint Clemens. Dixie was a medium-size brown female who was the winner of the D.V. Meisterchaft in 1964 with 281 points. She was the founder of the von Ellendonk Kennel and dam to the Ellendonk “G, H, I, L” litters.
Ottmar Vogel (DV/SV/ADRK Breed and Working Judge, DV/ADRK Körmeister): “Dixie became D.V. Leistungssieger in 1964 in Bonn. I had seen the trial and despite her errors at that time, she left an outstanding impression and deserved the Sieger title. Anatomically this medium-size female earned "excellent" with slight faults. She is the foundation female of the von Ellendonk Kennel and asserted her traits through various males with respect to temperament.”
Dixie’s first breeding in 1962 with multiple D.V. Meisterschaft participant Astor v.d. Schimmel Schulz Heide SchH3 (brown, out of Armin v. Dornberg SchH1 - Addi v. Ahsetal) produced the Ellendonk “G” Litter:
Gerra Ellendonk SchH3, DV-Lstsg |
Both Gero v. Ellendonk SchH3 and Gerra v. Ellendonk SchH3 DV-Lstsg not only consolidated the working abilities of this line but were also V rated at shows.
Dixie’s third litter in 1965 with three-time winner of the D.V. Meisterschaft Fred v.d. Blütenstadt d'Orsoy SchH3 (black, out of Alf v. Hagenfreund SchH1 Angekört - Asta v.d. Hochheide) produced the Ellendonk “I” Litter:
Iris Ellendonk SchH1, Bdsg |
Jessy Ellendonk SchH1 |
Argus Neroberg SchH3, Bdsg |
In 1965, Gerra v. Ellendonk SchH3 DV-Lstsg was bred with Argus v. Neroberg SchH3 BDSG (brown, out of Lump v. Basterhof - Gina v. Fürstenfeld SchH3 FH) to produce the important Ellendonk “J” Litter:
In 1968, Iris v. Ellendonk SchH1 BDSG was bred with Miko v. Fürstenfeld SchH1 Int-Ch (black, out of Bordo v. Fürstenfeld - Citta v. Fürstenfeld BDSG IDC-Sg) to produce Palma v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört ZVA DV-Lstsg. Palma, just like her maternal grand-dam Dixie, was not only a winner of the D.V. Meisterschaft but also asserted her traits with respect to temperament and working ability. Palma is dam of the Ellendonk “X, Z, A, B” Litters:
Zastra Ellendonk SchH1, Ang.ZVA |
Miko Fürstenfeld SchH1 Int-Ch |
Palma’s sire, Miko v. Fürstenfeld (black) SchH1 INT-CH, came from a combination between Bordo v. Fürstenfeld (Bordo strongly influenced his offspring with regard to the character and improvement of combative instinct) and Citta v. Fürstenfeld that was repeated 5 times to produce some important dogs like:
Vello Fürstenfeld SchH3, Ang.ZVA |
In 1970, Gero v. Ellendonk SchH3 was bred to Afra v. Hohenstaufen (black, out of Argus v. Neroberg SchH3 BDSG - Gitta v. Chalua) to produce the two noteworthy working dogs Satan v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört (brown) and Sanko v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört (brown). Both males passed the Körung and produced some very influential litters.
Vesta Ellendonk SchH1, DV-Sg |
In 1973, Sanko v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört was bred with Palma v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört ZVA DV-Lstsg to produce Zastra v. Ellendonk SchH1 Angekört ZVA. Zastra was then bred with Yago v. Ellendonk SchH1 Angekört ZVA to produce the Orakel "B" Litter (see below under Yago).
In 1973, Satan v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört was bred with Vesta v. Ellendonk SchH1 DV-SG (blue, out of Chico v. Forell BDSG - Jessy v. Ellendonk SchH1) to produce the Ellendonk "Y" Litter:
Yago Ellendonk SchH1, Ang.ZVA |
|
Akim Vaciweba SchH3, Ang.ZVA |
|
Black Orakel SchH1, Ang. |
Satan v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört was bred to Blanka v.d. Au SchH3 FH (brown, out of Ralf v. Forell SchH3 - Asta v. Fischweiher SchH3) to produce the all important Niederkassel “B” Litter in 1975 & Niederkassel “C” Litter in 1977. This combination produced three females (Bessy, Biene & Cona) which set the foundation for some of the most prepotent working lines:
Bessy Niederkassel SchH3 FH Ang. |
Bessy Niederkassel clearing 1m jump |
Cona Niederkassel SchH3 |
Cona Niederkassel lived to 14½ years |
Jago Beelen SchH2 Ang. ZVA |
In 1975, Palma v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört ZVA DV-Lstsg was bred with the V-male Jago v. Beelen SchH2 Angekört ZVA BDSG DV-Sg (brown, out of Chico v. Forell BDSG - Dascha von Forell: Vello v. Fürstenfeld daughter) to produce the Ellendonk kennels most famous Dobermann in Bingo v. Ellendonk (black) SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA DV-Lstsg. Best of all, Bingo threw his own high drives and robust character onto a large percentage of his offspring and his contribution in enhancing the breed's working ability is unparalleled.
Bingo Ellendonk SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA DV-Lstsg |
Ottmar Vogel: "The best working dog was and, however is, the D.V. Leistungssieger Bingo v. Ellendonk. This male at two years of age had already become D.V. Leistungssieger in 1977, and since then, has an unbroken succession where he has rarely been beaten out of anything less than second place. This male was titled over 30 times in SchH 3 and always impressed through his consistent work. He competed at several European FCI Championships and constantly impressed with his enormous fighting instinct and his steady and strong nerves. This dog has been very interestingly bred and it may be said that the temperament traits have been inherited from both sides, as can be seen from the line of ancestors and the bloodline plan. It is very encouraging that he has already left a strong working mark on his offspring and so it is hoped that the male continues to be intelligently and sensibly used for breeding."
Cona and Weyermühle "A" Litter |
In 1982, Bingo v. Ellendonk SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA DV-Lstsg (out of Jago v. Beelen SchH2 Angekört ZVA BDSG DV-Sg - Palma v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört ZVA DV-Lstsg) was bred to Cona v. Niederkassel SchH3 (out of Satan v. Ellendonk SchH3 Angekört - Blanka v.d. Au SchH3 FH) to produce the Weyermühle "A" Litter:
Amor Weyermühle SchH3 FH ZTP SG1A |
Arco Weyermühle SchH3 Ang.ZVA DV-DM |
Asko Weyermühle SchH3 ZTP SG1A |
Anouk Weyermühle SchH3 FH Ang. DV-DM |
The Bingo v. Ellendonk - Cona v. Niederkassel combination also produced two litters for the Klingenstadt Kennel in Germany, their “A” litter in 1979 and “C” Litter in 1984:
Cäsar Klingenstadt SchH3 KORAD |
Bingo v. Ellendonk produced numerous working champions to different females, such as:
Nicolai Kloster-Kamp SchH3 FH Ang. ZVA DVIN-Lstsg |
Cora Papenkamp SchH3 DV-Lstsg |
Note: Both Hektor v. Wilden Markgraf and Cora v. Papenkamp are similarly bred, in that they both have Falk v. Rotbachtal SchH3 Angekört ZVA as their maternal grand-sire (see below for more information on Falk).
In 1977, Biene v. Niederkassel SchH3, was bred with the Vello v. Fürstenfeld SchH3 Angekört ZVA grandson Guy's Hilo v. Norden Stamm SchH3 FH Multi-Sieger (black, out of Bryan v. Forell N-Ch - Gunthersforst Burga BRH3 N-Ch) to produce the influential Langenhorst “A” Litter:
Ali Langenhorst SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA Multi-Sg |
|
Ali Langenhorst 7 months of age |
Hertog Conan Manensheide SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA DV-Lstsg |
Askan Worringer Bruch SchH3 Ang. DV-DM |
In 1979, the Fliehburg kennel bred Bessy v. Niederkassel SchH3 FH Angekört with Arno v. Frohnberg SchH3 (brown, out of Benno v.d. Gäuperle SchH3 - Blacki v.d. Au SchH3 FH & sister to Bessy’s dam) to produce Crusha v.d. Fliehburg SchH3 FH (black). Crusha was the foundation female for the Worringer Bruch in Germany and was bred to a Bingo v. Ellendonk son Nicolai v. Kloster-Kamp SchH 3 FH Angekört ZVA DVIN-Lstsg BDCD-Lstsg DV-Vice-Lstsg (black, dam: Boschka v. Kloster-Kamp SchH3) to produce the Worringer Bruch “A” Litter:
Enka Fliehburg SchH3 FH |
In 1982, the Fliehburg kennel combined the Biene v. Niederkassel son Ali v. Langenhorst SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA Multi-Sieger with Bessy v. Niederkassel to produce Enka v.d. Fliehburg (black) SchH3 FH. Enka was the foundation female for the Hundesport Kennel in Australia, and with Tass v. Eschenhof SchHA (black, out of Lord vom Eschenhof SchH1 - Queen vom Eschenhof SchH1) produced the influential Hundesport “A” Litter:
Hundesport Ali SchH3 |
Hundesport Abbra SchH3 FH |
Hundesport Bosco BH |
Hundesport Bronco |
In 1984, the Yago v. Ellendonk son, Akim v. Vaciweba SchH3 Angekört ZVA was bred with Alfa v.d. Weyermühle SchH3 FH (Bingo v. Ellendonk - Cona v. Niederkassel) to produce the Weyermühle “B” Litter:
Bingo Weyermühle SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA |
Bingo Weyermühle 1989 ZentralKörung Nord |
Boris Weyermühle SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA |

In 1986, the Mooreiche “C” Litter combined the Bingo v. Ellendonk daughter Brista v. Reuschenburg SchH3 FH with the Biene v. Niederkassel son Ali v. Langenhorst SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA Multi-SG to produce:
Castor Mooreiche SchH3 Ang.ZVA DV-DM |
Cheska Mooreiche SchH3 FH |
Chiela Mooreiche SchH3 Ang.ZVA |

In 1989, for the Mooreiche “G” Litter breeder Klaus Kölbel combined a Bingo v. Ellendonk-Cona v. Niederkassel son Asko v.d. Weyermühle SchH3 with a Bingo v. Ellendonk-Biene v. Niederkassel dranddaughter Cora v.d. Mooreiche SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA. The resulting combination produced two-times D.V. Vice-Leistungssieger and SG-male Gero v.d. Mooreiche SchH3 FH, who in turn passed the Körung 'for life' with highest possible rating for hardness & working drives (very high for protection, courage, hardness and fighting drive with middle sharpness) and was well-known for his extremely fast and hard hitting courage tests which earned him the name “King Tiger”. Gero was not only an outstanding working dog but also proven producer of working ability which included International Police Dog Trial (WPO) winner Faro v.d. Schwellenburg; D.V Meisterschaft winner Dago v. Schwarzen Jäger; Cora v. Schwarzen Jäger SchH1 (dam of Ben v. Eschenbruch SchH3 Angekört ZVA); Allee v. Blitzkrieger SchH1 (dam of Dax v. Mooreiche SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA (out of Asko v.d. Weyermühle SchH3 - Cora v.d. Mooreiche SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA) to produce the important Doberwache “B” Litter. This genetically strong combination combined Mooreiche linebreeding on Bingo v. Ellendonk and Beine/Cona v. Niederkassel with the Weyermühle linebreeding on Bingo v. Ellendonk and Cona v. Niederkassel.

In 1972, the combination of Gero v. Ellendonk and Palma v. Ellendonk produced Xandra v. Ellendonk SchH3. Xandra was bred to the V-male Falk v. Rotbachtal SchH3 Angekört ZVA (black, out of Boss v. Salza - Centa v. Petershügel) to produce the Kirchbühl “C, E, F” Litters:
Ilo Kirchbuhl SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA DV-DM |
Damien Steinbachtal SchH3 FH Ang.ZVA DV-DM |
|
Dexter Steinbachtal SchH3 FH DV-Lstsg |
Falk Rotbachtal SchH3 Ang.ZVA |
Falk v. Rotbachtal passed the Körung 'for life' with highest rating for hardness & working drives and was named top German stud dog in 1974/1975 for his strong character and producing qualities. He was 70cm in height, a hard biter by his drive to defend and known as one of the hardest Dobermanns. Falk's paternal grandsire was the three-time D.V. Meisterschaft winner Fred v.d. Blütenstadt d'Orsoy (Fred was also the sire of Immo v. Ellendonk SchH3 DV-Lstsg & Iris v. Ellendonk).
Ottmar Vogel: “I would like to mention the V-male Falk v. Rotbachtal SchH3 Angekört ZVA due to his strength of character and producing qualities. This male goes beyond the triple Leistungssieger Fred Blütestadt Orsoy SchH3 to Alf Hagenfreund, sire of WSG Lump Hagenstolz. Falk can be confidently described as the hardest Dobermann of his time. Because our breed still suffers from a lack of hardness, the use of this male was completely justified. It’s proven Falk has produced the most Kör dogs, as well as the two Leistungssiegers Jaro Stollburg SchH3 Angekört ZVA - conformation V and Flax Kirchbühl SchH3 - conformation SG. Furthermore, he is the sire of some important breeding females such as Bina v. Wilden Markgraf - SchH3 FH Angekört ZVA, Afra Papenkamp SchH3 Angekört ZVA (dam of DV LSG 81 Cora Papenkamp), Jacky Frankenland, Esta Kirchbühl SchH3 FH Angekört, Cora Kirchbühl etc. I am convinced that this bloodline revitalised and genuinely improved the character.”
In 1973, Falk v. Rotbachtal SchH3 Angekört ZVA was bred with Bessy v.d. Räuberhöhle SchH3 Angekört ZVA (black, out of Vello v. Fürstenfeld SchH3 Angekört ZVA - Jenny v. Ellendonk SchH3) to produce the Wilden Markgraf "B" Litter:
Quincy Wilden Markgraf SchH3 |
In 1975, Falk v. Rotbachtal SchH3 Angekört ZVA was bred with Ina v. Jungfernstieg (black, out of Armin Meckie v. Roten Feld SchH2 BDSG - Dona v. Hagenstern) to produce the Papenkamp "A" Litter:
Arne Estetal SchH3 |
Armin Eich SchH3 FH2 |
In 1974, Xyla v. Ellendonk SchH1 Angekört (brown, out of Gero v. Ellendonk - Palma v. Ellendonk) was bred to the V-male Vello v. Fürstenfeld SchH3 Angekört ZVA (black, out of Bordo v. Fürstenfeld - Citta v. Fürstenfeld BDSG IDC-SG) to produce the V-male Armin v.d. Eich SchH3 FH2. Armin was bred to the Falk v. Rotbachtal daughter Bessy v. Wilden Markgraf to produce Kira v. Dammberg SchH1 (maternal grand-dam to Xandra v. Dammberg SchH3 V - foundation female for the Grenzturm Kennel in Austria).
Amanda Stifthub SchH1 |
In 1971, Hesta v. Ellendonk (brown, out of Basko v. Oberdahl - Dixie v. Krakau SchH3 DV-Lstsg) was bred with Chico v. Forell BDSG (black, out of Odin v. Forell SchH2 - Cita Germania BDSG) to produce V-female Amanda v. Stifthub SchH1 (brown). Amanda possessed a good character and was also a succes in the confirmation ring by becoming a German Champion. She became the foundation female for the Ferollheim kennel in Holland, and together with Jürgen v. Hagenstern SchH1 DV-SG (black, out of Bonni v. Forell SchH1 BDSG DV-SG - Dona v. Eichenhain SchH1 BDSG DV-SG) produced the V-male Aldo v. Ferrolheim SchH2 VH3 BDSG VDH-SG (brown, first Dobermann in the Netherlands to obtain the working title VH3).
